What I Wished Someone Told Me About Marriage

I'm participating in the "Faith Barista Jam on Thursdays".  Each week Faith poses a question.  Bloggers and non-bloggers are free to comment or post.  The only requirement she has is to "keep it real".  Click on it! www.faithbarista.com

Well....I wish someone had told me how hard it was going to be.

I wish someone had told me how much I would have to "die" to myself once we had children.

I wish someone had told me that I might grow in one direction and he may grow in another.

I wish someone had told me how priceless it is that I must "respect" my husband and he will give me the "love" I need/desire.

Undeniably, while on this marriage journey, I can honestly say I am and continue to become a better wife/mother.  I understand what it really means to sacrifice and see with "unconditional eyes".  How important it is to communicate what you need and not expect him/her to "already know".   I am glad, even through the dark and uncertain times, we are still in love.

Until next time....

I can identify with the feelings you have. There are many things, Biblical things, about being a wife and mom that I wish some one had told me about when I was younger. Even if they didn't always verbally tell me, but perhaps displaying it and being a living example would have been nice.

But all in all, I am glad that I am learning now instead of never. I am glad that I'll be able to show my children something different.

Marriage is hard work, being a mom is hard work. But it is such a worthy work! We've been called to do it Mrs. Gertha. And by His grace, God will see us through.

    God bless and take care.

  2. Hi Stacie!

Thank you for your honest comment(:. I agree. I am glad that I am learning now. Having someone as you stated as a "living example" would have definitely been nice. But, in the blogosphere I have found Courtney of "Women Living Well". Angela,co-founder of Good Morning Girls and now you(:. Thank you my dear sister and yes, "God will see us through our calling and bless our worthy work"

Always a pleasure when you stop by!
Take care and you be blessed!.

  5. Hi Gertha,

There is a lot wisdom here --

"How important it is to communicate what you need and not expect him/her to "already know"."

This seems to be continual, no matter how many years are going by.

Made me smile seeing you show up with your brew in hand!

  8. Hi Bonni!

You are welcome. It's good to see you here and thank you for following me(: It's hard training mine to understand. But, As Proverbs 22:6 says, "train a child in the way they should go and and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Thank you for your encouraging comment and for stopping by!
